The Trail of 100 Lakes

The name of the trail is not coincidental. Its course will take you through the most picturesque landscapes of Wielkopolska, full of lakes, beautiful river valleys and subtle hills. Pristine nature, no large cities nearby and plenty of cozy places to spend a night make it a perfect location for weekend outdoor activities.

Course

The trail is 111 km long and starts in Poznań, at the Cycling Trails Hub on the western bank of Malta Lake. From Poznań, the trail leads to Szamotuły where there are a Gothic basilica and the medieval castle of the noble Górka family. Further on the trail, there is the interesting 15th century Gothic church in Ostroróg and in Białokosz, an early 19th century mansion.

From this point begins the most interesting part of the trail, entering the Land of 100 Lakes, as we call the area around towns Sieraków, Międzychód and Chrzypsko. The landscape changes from rather flat to quite hilly, so it offers both more challenge but also outstanding views. In Sieraków one may visit the Opaloiński Castle or try the Wake Park Sieraków. In Międzychód then, be sure to take a walk on the narrow cobbled streets surrounding the market square.

The route is marked with the abbreviation SSJ on the map, and in the field with a symbol of a black bicycle on a white background.
