Jaracz Milling Museum

At its peak, Greater Poland could boast thousands of windmills and several hundred watermills. Today, there are around 200 left, and each one of them is a magnificent monument to technological ingenuity. One of them is located in the Jaracz Milling Museum, on the edge of the Noteć Forest.

The Jaracz Milling Museum displays a complete mill settlement. It consists of a water mill from the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries with a canal system, an 18th-century windmill, a stable, and a house that is over a century old. Inside the mill, you can see an exhibition of the entire grain milling process. The windmill is frequently activated so that the visitors can admire its operation using wind power.

An interesting exhibition is awaiting you in the former stable, where you can get familiar with methods of grinding grain (by hand or on a treadmill, using the muscle power of animals, most often horses). The stylized Miller’s House, in turn, showcases a unique collection of models of windmills that once operated throughout Poland.
