Warta Bicycle Route

The Warta Bicycle Route is designated along the banks of the biggest river of Greater Poland – Warta – making it one of the most nature-rich bicycle trails in that area. The Route is 372 km long, with Poznań situated somewhere in its middle. During the bike trip one must keep in mind that the trail runs along the river, often far from larger populated places.

The eastern part of the trail goes from Poznań through the Rogalin Landscape Park and near the Greater Poland National Park. In Śrem and Nowe Miasto nad Wartą, it’s particularly worth seeing the Gothic churches (also the Baroque Monastery in Śrem), and in Czeszewo, the wooden church and half-timbered building of a former inn. You can also try some splendid regional cuisine at the restaurant in Folwark Konny Hermanów (an equestrian farm in Hermanów).

Further on, the trail proceeds via Warta Landscape Park directly to Konin. On that trail there is a town called Koło with its ruins of a Gothic church and Uniejów with a Gothic church, castle and a large thermal pools complex. The trail finishes in Jeziorsko – the biggest retention reservoir in Poland.

The western section of the trail starts in Poznań and goes towards Biedrusko. En route you’ll pass the Śnieżycowy Jar Reserve. It astonishes its visitors with thousands of blooming flowers in spring. Another spot near the trail is Oborniki, a good place for having rest. Next comes Obrzycko, where you’ll find the former palace of the aristocratic Raczyński family. From that point the trail runs largely alongside the Notecka Forest – one of the largest Polish forests. It later leads through Wronki to Sierakowo – the heart of the Land of 100 lakes, and ends in Mędzychowo.
