The palace in Turew is the heart of the General Dezydery Chłapowski Landscape Park. This is not only due to its location, at the crossroads of many trails, but above all to the fact that it was once the home of General Chłapowski himself.
The Chłapowski family settled here in 1730. The most renowned member of the family was Dezydery, who transformed the Baroque palace into an austere Neo-Gothic castle, inspired by the appearance of medieval fortresses.

Chłapowski was not only a Napoleonic soldier, a participant in the November Uprising, and a member of parliament, but also a remarkable estate manager. After the Napoleonic campaigns, he learned agricultural practices in England, and then applied all the innovations to his estates in Greater Poland. The orderly agricultural landscape, which was created by General Chłapowski, is now protected by the landscape park.
Today, the palace houses the Reasearch Station of the Institute of Agricultural and Forest Environment of the Polish Academy of Sciencies. The palace itself can be visited only by organized groups, but the landscape park is open to all visitors for free. Spring is the ideal time to explore this place, when the flowers are in full bloom.
