Fairytale castles seem to be our speciality. While traveling across Wielkopolska you will surely notice many edifices that combine some features of old medieval strongholds with quite luxurious aristocratic residences. One of the most interesting is definitely the Rokosowo Castle. Located south from Gostyń (somewhere in the middle between Poznań and Wrocław) serves today as a hotel, yet the parks and gardens are open for public.
The castle in Rokosowo was erected in the mid 19th century for count Józef Mycielski, and was designed by the famous Friedrich August Stüler. Later, it was used by the influential Czartoryski family. The castle resembles medieval gothic architecture, with two round towers and battlements on the top. At the same time, looking at the spacious windows, there can be no doubt that it was intended to serve the convenience of the inhabitants and not to ward off a possible siege. The interior of the castle is not only perfectly lit, but also extremely impressive, especially the representative rooms and rooms intended for guests, which are accessed by a grand staircase.
Over 10 ha large park and garden are open for public and make a wonderful space for a weekend walk among old trees, garden ponds and romantic alleys.
Today the castle offers accommodation, a cafe and a restaurant. The place is perfect to organise a conference, a business meeting or even a wedding in a royal style.
