Miedzichowo Landscape Park is best described as a long chain of pristine lakes surrounded by forests. Along with the neighboring Pszczew Landscape Park, it protects over 20 lakes and the Obra River valley, which is a very popular kayaking trail in this section.
The area of the park was once the borderland between Greater Poland and Brandenburg, the region that has always been heavily forested and slightly marshy in places. As a result, there are few human settlements here, but a lot of places for relaxation, forest walks as well as mushroom picking. The blue-marked Western Greater Poland Hiking Trail runs from Trzciel to Miedzichowo. Both Pszczew and Miedzichowo are cycling trail nodes.

Although there are few historical monuments in the park, you can spot numerous old red-brick houses while cycling through the villages and forest settlements, many dating back over 150 years. What’s more, you can come across some roadside chapels and somewhat forgotten Jewish and Evangelical cemeteries hidden in the forest. Many of these are reminders of Olędrzy – former settlers from the Netherlands who were specialists in managing marshy and inhospitable terrain.
The tourist center of the area is Pszczew, where you can easily find good restaurants and accommodation. In Miedzichowo, every September, the archeological festival named ”Dymarki Miedzichowskie” (“Miedzichowo’s bloomeries”) takes place. It revives medieval traditions related to the smelting of bog iron ores in simple furnaces called “dymarki” (bloomeries).
