A lesser-known but very interesting river in northern Greater Poland (around Wyrzysk). Varying water levels, changing landscapes, hydroelectric plants and water mills, rapids and cascades – these are the main attractions of the Łobżonka River. It’s beautiful and diverse, but not for novices. Be prepared to camp overnight in the wild and bring adequate provisions.
The Łobżonka is a right tributary of the Noteć River. Its source is near Kamień Krajeński and its mouth near Osiek nad Notecią. The river is 76 km long, but only a 58 km section from the village of Wersk is accessible for kayaking.
The entire 58-kilometer trail takes 3-4 days. For a weekend trip, there are two options: either from Werski Młyn to Wyrzysk or from Łobżenica to the river’s mouth. Well-prepared provisions are essential, ideally for the entire route. Don’t forget about a tent, which can be pitched on the surrounding meadows or clearings.

The more difficult, the more interesting
This is a very interesting river in terms of scenery, as it flows sometimes through forests and at other times through fields and meadows. What’s more, rapids and even small cascades, as well as several small floodplain lakes can be found along its course. The presence of the latter is due to the hydroelectric plants and mills built on the river. The most challenging part of the river before Łobżenica is the distance where you must overcome a steep-sided weir and carry your kayak approximately 500 meters. However, in the lower section might appear shallows, forcing kayaks to be towed.
