A perfect choice for a family weekend near Poznań. The trail is abundant not only in beautiful scenery but also in historical monuments, such as the famous Kórnik Castle. It’s perfect even for beginners to make a short trip out of town. The river Głuszynka begins at Lake Raczyńskie in Zaniemyśl and ends after 34 kilometers, flowing into the Warta River in Czapury, near Poznań.
A Family Weekend near the city
The Głuszynka canoeing trail is easy and you don’t have to worry about supplies or accommodation. You only have to portage your canoe a few times, and over short distances. Low water levels make it a bit more challenging. Due to the number of additional attractions, it’s best to dedicate two days for the venture. You can start the trip at Lake Raczyńskie in Zaniemyśl, but launching is also possible at the bridge in Jeziory Wielkie. You can also proceed from the confluence of the Głuszynka with the Warta River to Poznań, which is approximately 10 km.
Sail and Explore
The Głuszynka Trail is full of historical monuments. In Zaniemyśl, you can visit St. Lawrence’s Church with the tomb of Count Edward Raczyński and a statue of his wife, Konstancja, as well as Edward Island on Lake Raczyński. The last one is the site of the Count’s tragic death. The most famous and worth seeing attraction is Kórnik, with its famous castle, arboretum, and grange, the birthplace of Nobel Prize winner Wisława Szymborska.
