On a slope above the banks of the Noteć River, amidst forests, Wilhelm Bolko von Hochberg built a Neo-Renaissance palace. Today, it’s commonly referred to as a castle due to the fact that its founder modeled it on the existing Varenholz Castle in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. The construction took less than two years and was completed in 1911. The structure is crowned with three towers topped with helmet-shaped domes. The interior retains some of its original décor, particularly in the splendid library.
The castle is home to the Forestry School Complex, whose showcase is the Hunting Trumpeters’ Ensemble. The castle is open to the visitors every day but only from the outside.
