The Royal Castle in Rydzyna is a model magnate residence and an excellent example of Baroque architecture. The castle combined with the city create a coherent spatial premise that can be compared to Wilanów, or in terms of its keynote, to Versailles itself.
Rydzyna flourished under the rule of the Leszczyński and Sułkowski families. At that time, a representative Baroque residence with an inner courtyard and four fortified towers was built.

Castle Interiors
Karol Martin Frantz, a native of Silesia, designed the spacious staircase and the glamorous ballroom, decorated with a massive polychrome picturing the wedding of Aleksander Sułkowski and Anna Przebendowska. Twenty-two columns add the monumental touch to the ballroom, which still continues to be used today. In these representative interiors numerous events are hosted, both private and public, as well as concerts and balls.
In 1945, Rydzyna Castle was set on fire by the Russians. Despite significant damage, many of the historic interiors managed to be restored, including a very beautiful Maritime Room and the Four Seasons Room. The most recently restored interior is the so-called Great Alcove (a former bedroom), where a Rococo fireplace and a Baroque composition of a stone curtain dividing the room into two sections can be admired.
Hotel
Currently, Rydzyna Castle operates as a hotel and a conference center. The castle offers accommodation in elegant yet cozy rooms. It’s one of those places in Greater Poland that fulfill dreams of staying overnight in the truly princely interiors.
There is also a public restaurant for guests, serving both traditional Greater Poland cuisine and the finest European dishes. It’s also a great idea for having a family gathering or a Sunday dinner here.
