Probably one of the most beautiful, yet not the biggest, palace in Wielkopolska. Surrounded by a large park with an incredible number of lavish garden furniture (including even an artificial cave). Today the palace houses the Museum of Gentry. It also has some secrets and fascinating facts that deserve to be discovered.
The history of the palace starts deep in the 18th century. It was bult for the Gorzeński family by Stanisław Zawadzki – a well-known classical architect, who also designed many other elegant palaces in Wielkopolska. The building was built in an L-shaped shape, with a monumental portico with four columns. On the ground floor there are residential and representative rooms, all beautifully reconstructed and equipped. On the first floor offers a richly decorated ballroom and the Egyptian room with oriental decorations.
Legends
There is a spooky legend often told about the palace. First written down by Adam Turno, brother of the former owner of the palace, says of a ghostly figure seen in the palace. Also, gunshots, cracking walls and chains could be heard in the halls and especially in the basement. According to the tale, countess Wanda Czarnecka ordered excavations in the said basement. An old well was discovered with a chained skeleton buried inside.
